Meet Percé Rock
An ode to the magnificence of nature, this imposing natural rock and calcareous monument is immersed in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, in front of the village of Percé.
Once connected to the continent and historically possessing three arches, but only one today, this spectacular rock formation with steep cliffs is linked to the mainland only at low tide.
Together with the adjacent enchanting Bonaventure Island, this is a Gaspésie icon in an integral part of the fabulous Parc national de l'île-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Percé.
Travel the Chic-Chocs Mountains
Beautifully centered within the Gaspé Peninsula, the Chic-Choc Mountains rise parallel to the River.
With eroded flat tops and steep hillsides, this mountain massif works its way into the Appalachians and encompasses the Parc national de la Gaspésie, comprising more than 25 summits exceeding 1 000 m; the Réserve faunique des Chic-Chocs and the Réserve faunique de Matane, characterized by bare ridges; and the International Appalachian Trail. A true paradise for hikers.
Illustrating the ultimate continuation of the Appalachians on the eastern end of the Gaspésie, discover the magnificent and mountainous Forillon Peninsula, transformed into a National Park, illustrating the natural beauty of its coastline.
Here, geological phenomena and formations dating back 450 million years ago bear witness to the life forms present then and to the history of the planet. Dramatic cliffs are home to thousands of seabirds, shores welcome seal colonies, and boreal forest harbours a rich animal life.
Sail on the sea and rivers
In Gaspésie, the omnipresent water is literally a part of daily life.
Enjoy it for the salmon; experience canyoning; canoe clear rivers; go rafting; explore Chaleur Bay (among the most beautiful bays in the world); admire sunsets while sea kayaking; take sailing lessons; watch whales on excursions; fish for crab or lobster offshore; learn scuba diving in a fabulous underwater world (punctuated with coral banks) and... get a taste for water!
Get exceptionally up close with unique wildlife while observing and respecting local fauna in its native habitat. Through photo safaris, diving, sea kayaking, inflatable boat excursions, and hiking, observe nature in a multitude of ways. Watch in admiration the only herd of caribou south of the Saint-Lawrence, and observe in wonder the largest and most accessible colony of Northern Gannets in the world. Other animals to encounter include moose, black bear, and white-tailed deer; whales and grey seal; fish, including salmon and hundreds of bird species... Come and see?
